North Shore Trip

Ok, so I have the best husband ever.

On Saturday I had rehearsal and came home to a note on the door. It was a treasure hunt through the house with clues I had to figure out. I ended up finding my prize in the basement bedroom where Dan and Ani were hiding. Dan had planned a trip for the two of us to Grand Superior Lodge outside of Two Harbors and kept it a complete secret. He had lined up a babysitter and got my days off of work taken care of and everything. What a guy! I love him so much...it was so great to get away together for a couple of days and reconnect.

Ani is growing up so fast! She can sign a ton of words now and today she finally *almost* got I love you! That's a hard one, in case you didn't know. She's so cute. She is the life of the party and loves being around people.

She spent the night at grandma and grandpa's last night and kicked them in the head all night...needless to say they won't be doing that again so she got her very own kid size aerobed today from them. We'll see how she likes that.

On my side, I'm getting excited to open for Building 429 at Club 3 Degrees on the 25th with the band I've been working with for the past couple of months. We're also playing at the music tournament there in November. Pretty cool!

So I have to admit it...I am officially not in my 20's anymore. I'll let you figure out how old I am because I don't like saying it out loud :) However, I did have a lovely time out with my girls and my hubby on Friday at Chino Latino.

Our friends' the Andersons had Jessa's first bday party this weekend as well. Jessa and Ani had a good time trading rocks in the yard. I swear I'm never spending money on a toy again.

Vacation in da Nort'land

We are back from vacation, well, technically...I still have one more day!!

We headed up to Garmisch Resort in Cable for a week of relaxation. We fished, ate, saw some family, ate, petted some animals, ate, and oh yeah, ATE. I am sure I gained ten pounds which I will now be complaining about until I lose it. I don't remember there being such good food in my hometown neck of the woods before I started going there for vacation!

Here are some pics of our fun vacation. Ani went swimming in the lake and went fishing for three hours. We also went to Wilderness Walk in Hayward to see the animals and to Mellen for the parade and to the baseball game for a little while. So much fun, we're sad it's over. But we're booked again for next year!

Ani got this beach ball sprinkler for her birthday so we tried it out the other day. She wasn't too sure about it and wanted to check it out but the water was really cold! Daddy took her over by it and she didn't like it too much but would point at it and want to go back :)

The other pics of me are at the St. Paul Saints (the minor league team in town) game on Saturday night. I got the chance to sing the national anthem at the start of the game. A bunch of my awesome friends showed up to support me, too! We had a lot of fun. Love you guys!

Happy Anniversary

Saturday was Dan and my fifth wedding anniversary. Of course my wonderful husband had a night of fun planned for us, and Ani went to have a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa P's for the first time.

Since I love surprises, Dan never tells me what he's got up his sleeve, so I had no idea where we were headed for the evening. We ended up at the Oceanaire Seafood Room in Minneapolis, which is one of my absolute favorite places to eat. We had a fabulous dinner and then Dan took me down to the street where a horse drawn carriage was waiting for us to take us for a ride. What a great hubby I have, huh? It was a beautiful night, and the ride was relaxing and fun until...the severe storms started! The driver rushed back to throw up the cover and give us a blanket to hide under while sheets of rain poured down and lightning was flashing. We got our hour ride, though, and continued through the city for another half an hour. We were laughing so hard we couldn't breathe as we hid underneath the blanket trying not to get drenched.

Seems like this is the way we make memories :) He told me to bring the camera because I would want to remember the night...maybe he had it planned that way all along...

Anyway, here's to the best five years of my life, babe, and to many more to come. I love you and our family and can't wait to see what else God has in store for us.

Well, we had a fun week. We had to go get Anika her first real pair of shoes at Peterson's on Saturday. They are so cute...and so expensive! They better last for a couple years, right? Ha!

Busy week!

It was another busy week and weekend for the Schwarzies. We had dress rehearsal and three performances of Donkey Tales, the musical we've been working on at church. We had a blast! The kids were awesome. On top of that, Ani took her first real steps, she's getting a little braver now and will try it on her own. She still prefers crawling, however.

Our first hospital visit...

Well, we just got home from the hospital from being in there since midnight on Thursday. Anika woke up with a horrible fever and threw up so we rushed to the ER at Mercy. We were in there until 4 a.m. and Ani had to have a urine culture to see if she had a urinary tract infection. The culture came back positive so she had to have an IV put in for antibiotics. We got to our room about 4:30 a.m. and I have no idea what time we got to sleep. She had the fever (105.5) all day on Friday and it continued until yesterday when it finally went away. she had to be in the hospital for 24 hours without the fever before we could be discharged.

It was NOT a fun experience watching her be so sick :( I'm glad she won't remember it! The doc said it ended up being a kidney infection caused by e coli and that her kidney was very sick, that's why the fever wouldn't go away.

But, thank the Lord we are home and she is feeling much better. Now mommy and daddy just have to catch up on some sleep :)

Dan and I work with a performing arts ministry at church and this year we're doing "Donkey Tales," a story about a donkey dude ranch. It has a western theme so one of the gals took pics of all the kids and put them on wanted posters. Here's our little bandit.

Anyone have any ideas how to get her to go back to sleeping through the night? The past week she's been waking up SCREAMING at the top of her lungs like she's having nightmares...it's really hard to get her back to sleep so she's been sleeping with mommy and daddy for the remainder of the night which is a habit I don't want to start, but heck, we need some sleep!!

Well, I have come to find out at least one thing since I have begun blogging on this site...it takes discipline. Yes, journaling, scrapbooking, and now, blogging take much discipline, which it appears, my dear readers, that I have none of.

Well, now that I got that off my chest, what's up with our family, you may ask? Well, Anika turned 9 months old a few days ago, and went to the doctor again. She's 30 inches long and 22.4 lbs...a big girl! She now has six teeth in her mouth, the bottom two are in and there are four on the top making their way in, but you wouldn't know it because she doesn't complain about it at all. She uses her walker to get around really well in the house and I'm sure she'll be doing it on her own soon.

Dan and I were in Dallas last week for work for 4 days and left her with a good friend of ours during that time. We were bummin' but I don't even think Ani knew we were gone, she loves people! She had a great time at our friends' house with their kids and their dogs :)

It's been too long....

We are so busy with work and church and Ani that I haven't had the time to upload any pics, but here they are. She is crawling all over creation and pulling herself up on everything, we have to keep a close eye on her...she's fast! She also started saying "dada" and "baba" in the last week or so, it's super cute. She's also playing ball with us, rolling the ball back to us when we roll it to her, and she pretty much eats everything we do, and loves her mac and cheese! She's got her two bottom teeth and her two top canines are coming in slowly, and boy does she know how to use 'em.

Here are pics of her...she tried to hide in Daddy's suitcase when he went to MI on business, and she wanted to play dress up and be a cowboy. That's what she said, I swear!

Ani's first Christmas

Well, Anika's first Christmas has been deemed a smashing success! Christmas really means something different now that we have a baby...it changes everything we ever really thought about it. You really see it differently when you watch a child and all the joy that they have.

Here are some pics of our Christmas celebrations...from church on Christmas Eve, we went home to have dinner and open presents with Grandma and Grampa P and Uncle Larry. Of course she was completely spoiled. Then, on Christmas Day, Grandma and Grandpa S came up and joined us for dinner and brought MORE presents, and Ani was completely spoiled again. I don't think we'll ever have to buy this child a present again!

Of course, Anika loved every minute of the attention, and seemed genuinely excited to open her presents. I don't know if she got what was going on or not, but it sure seemed like it! She would scream with excitement every time she'd pull the paper off the present. She stayed up until something like midnight she was so excited.

She is definitely the best Christmas present Dan and I have ever received!!! What an awesome kid. I thank the Lord for all the blessings he's given us this year and hope that your family had a chance to celebrate the real meaning of Christmas :)

Well, we've had a fun weekend, despite the HORRIBLE Packers' loss to the Bears today. I will leave it at that. Dan graduated from Northwestern College on Friday with his bachelor's degree in business management. We are very proud of him! It has been a long road and he has worked very hard. We're so glad he's done, however :) Now we'll get to see him more!

Well, after a long hiatus...I'm back! We are so busy, I can't even tell you. We are gone (well, I'm gone) Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights and our weekends are even busier! Mom's here now living with us and working at Moneygram Corp. Intl. in St. Louis Park right outside of Minneapolis. It's fun having her here and nice to have someone to watch Anika. Ani is growing like a weed...20.2 lbs at her last appointment last week, wow! 29 inches long, too. She's trying so hard to crawl and is managing to army crawl now. Once she gets her legs up, watch out! She'll be off. No new teeth yet but I think the top ones are working their way in. She's trying new foods all the time and is eating some fun stuff off Mommy and Daddy's plates.

Well, she has a tooth. It's definitely there because she's bit both of us with it!! She is such a good little teether, she hasn't complained a bit about it at all. God has truly blessed us with an extremely happy-go-lucky baby!!

We put our tree up last weekend, and Ani had to go over and check it out :)

Dan and I just spent a long weekend in Wisconsin, part of which was watching the Pack STOMP the Viqueens in an amazing victory! It was our first time at Lambeau and it was fabulous. Thanks to Uncle Jer and Aunt Sal for letting us go with them to the game.

The other part of the weekend was spent with hanging out with my best friend Daron (known to some of you as Bohn). We had a great time, even though we missed Ani very much! Grandma and Grandpa P took care of her and spoiled her rotten. She even started doing "So big!" while we were gone. Sheesh.

Well, once again it's been awhile since I've posted...I have been so busy with work and other things that I have not had time to get to the computer. So, here are some things we've been up to.

Ani has found her new food-love...mashed potatoes. Everytime we go out to eat now, she gets really mad at us if we don't give her something, too. She watches us eat and screams at us, even if she has just eaten. So, we gave her some mashed potatoes and boy, did she love 'em! Here she is eating some with Grandpa and then some pics of going out to eat with Auntie Heather and Uncle Ian, post-mashed potatoes.

And the Huh? part of our story today goes along with the following pic. Mommy went to Women of Faith over the weekend and got dressed in the dark on Saturday morning because Ani and Daddy were sleeping. We're so sorry for the delay in the blogs! We hope our devoted readers haven't left us. Our internet service hasn't been working so we're getting it fixed and so we haven't been able to blog very much in the last couple of weeks. Ani had her 4 month doc appt last week. Her stats were: 24 inches long, 17.2 pounds, and 44cm head circumference.

Schwarz family get together

This weekend, Dan's side of the family had a shindig at his Uncle Dean's house in Zumbrota. What once was usually a quieter, adult oriented gathering (okay, so maybe it was never quiet) has now turned into Romper Room! LOL! There were five little ones there on Saturday, ranging from Madi, who is 2 1/2 down to Ani at 4 months. Anika had a great time with the fam but was on people overload after this weekend. She slept for three hours this afternoon, which is really abnormal for her as she is a cat napper, a half hour is a long nap for her on a regular day.

Here are some pics of our fun day. The kids are (now keep it straight): Madi, Dan's cousin Dena's little girl (the curly haired cutie), Gavin, Dan's cousin Steve and Lynn's little boy (the blondie), Austin, Dan's cousin Sara's son (the strawberry blond), and Josiah, Dan's cousin Melisa and husband Rhett's (dark hair/olive skin). Whew! This is going to be really fun in about 2 more years when they are ALL running wild!

Sorry it's been so long since the last post. We've been really busy lately and I haven't gotten a chance to take may pictures. Ani has now found her feet and really is enjoying staring at them and grabbing them. She's figured out how to roll back over from her tummy to her back so she doesn't get so frustrated anymore, but she does get her self caught on things sometimes. I came into the living room the other day to find her rolled up like a baby taco in her play gym after she knocked it down! Such a cutie.

Ani rolled over from her back to her tummy on Tuesday and is trying very hard to crawl. She is also teething and is sucking on her bottom lip constantly and drooling all over us.

Gramma and Grampa Parker were here for a few days for vacation. It was nice to have some time to visit with them, even though we were all busy for a lot of the time.

The Great Minnesota Get Together

Well, we hit the MN State Fair today. I knew Ani was going to love it because she absolutely adores watching people...I think it must be genetic. She was such a good girl all day and I don't think she got fussy once. We got to visit with the horses and the baby animals in the miracle of birth building. It was wonderful weather, sunny but not too hot, and mommy and daddy ate way too much deep fried stuff on a stick. Here are some pics Anika enjoying her first of many state fair trips. We're going back once more this weekend...we didn't gain enough wait or spend enough money today :)

It was pretty funny seeing her try to figure out what to do with the mushy stuff I was trying to put in her mouth. I think maybe she got some down, but I'm not sure. Most of it was on her face!

My friend that watched her has two daughters that kept her busy reading to her and playing with her all morning :) What fun! Well, Daddy's first Sunday morning getting Ani ready and getting to church by himself was a major success! He even washed clothes and cleaned up the house...I'm going to leave those two home by themselves more often! Sunday afternoon we headed to Le Sueur to visit with Dan's family. Anika was very talkative and sociable and loved hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa Schwarz. Here are some pics!

I'm down another 2 1/2 pounds this week...thank goodness because after my half pound loss last week and the 1 lb. gain the week before I was thinking about throwing in the towel!! I've started working out at Curves...I love that it's only half an hour and that it's a set workout so I don't have to wander around the gym trying to find a machine that's open, or slowly kill myself on the treadmill while watching reruns of Roseanne. I wish losing it was as easy and fun as putting it on was. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Weight Watchers is going to make the rest of the 25 pounds I'm trying to lose come off, too!! That is if the State Fair doesn't get me first...

Well Grandma Barb and Grandpa Kevin were here this weekend and we had a great time. Dad and Dan went to the Twins game on Saturday while the girls went to the Mall of America for some shopping. We didn't get too much shopping done by the time we actually got parked and into the mall! It was very busy. Anika loved every minute of the mall...she was so busy checking out the bright colors and lights. Here are some pics from this weekend.

2 month checkup

Well, Ani had her two month checkup today, and she's off the charts! (Well, duh :) ) She's now 24 inches long and 13 pounds, which places her in the 90th percentile for weight and the 93rd percentile for height. And then there's that head circumference thing...that's now at 42, which puts her in the 97th percentile!!! Parker head, right Parker women? I guess Dan doesn't have anything to worry about, she's going to be tall like her mama. He always said he had to marry a woman taller than him to have normal sized children...looks like his plan worked.

The two month appointment also means immunizations, so Anika had to have three shots in her thighs. I felt so bad for her because she is such a good girl at the doctor, cooing away at the doc's instruments hanging on the wall, and then bam! She was NOT happy, and I almost started crying with her she was so upset. She just wanted to be held the rest of the day. The pics arebefore and after...happy, having a good ol' time in her swing...and then knocked out for most of the rest of the day. She spent a good portion of the evening napping in either my or Daddy's arms.

Give your family hugs and tell them you love them today...after the bridge accident here in Minneapolis I've been feeling like holding Ani and Dan extra tight. Keep the families in your prayers as we will be.

Growing up

Well, Anika is growing fast. I had to put away a bunch of her clothes that she is too big for already, can you believe it?? I hate it. I want her to stay little forever. I also started back to work yesterday...it's very interesting trying to multitask with a baby. I am so grateful that God has given me the opportunity to have a job where I don't have to bring her to daycare, though. What a blessing! She's such a good girl all day, too. I can't explain how much I love her! We went to the Science Museum on Saturday to see the Pompeii exhibit, which was very cool. Ani got to see her first dinosaur, too. I can't wait to take her back there someday when she'll appreciate it more :)

We'll see how this goes...

Well, I have never blogged before, and I haven't kept a journal for years, so this should be interesting! I'm hoping to use this as a way to keep friends and family updated on our little one and what's going on with us since I'm not so great at calling back lately, being as busy as I am. So we'll see how it goes!
